Gardening is one of my hobbies. Well, if I'm being honest, I prepare the soil, dig holes for some plants, hope it rains a lot (which fortunately it has this year at my house), and then pick the harvest when the time is right.

Someone may have said to you “your services are no longer needed.” If you have heard those exact words, you may have been let go from a professional situation. If you have not heard those exact words, you may still have been let got from a responsibility or job or task.

Recently I was reminded of a young girl I knew in my youth. She sought all of her pleasure and fulfillment in her accomplishments. From the earliest times she could remember she sought approval.

This week I was privileged to pay another visit to the women's division at the county jail in our area. My friend, Ruth and I always go together on these visits, where, for an hour or so, we lead the women in worship and share some insights from God's Word. We visit this jail on a regular basis so we know the inmates wear orange jumpsuits.

A few years back I played golf for the first time and I stunk. I haven’t picked up a club since. I don't know a lot about it, but I think I stunk at golf because I couldn’t seem to keep my eye on the ball.
